Over the past two decades one region that has been responsible for some of the most amazing grunge and alternative music is the Pacific Northwest. From the heroin fueled angst of bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Sound Garden to more recent indie hits like Modest Mouse and The Decemberists, PacNo ( Because I'll be fucked if I'm gonna write Pacific Northwest again), has produced some rediculously good bands. So it is no suprise that the band I'm bringing to ya'll now hails from where they like their shirts flannel and their beers home brewed. I recently picked up Band of Horses' album "Cease to Begin" and definelty enjoyed it. I'm not gonna talk about the bands origins ( that's what wikipedia is for fool) and I'm certainly not gonna tell you about their "woodsy blend of midtempo rock and reverb-laden vocal", but I will say if you're looking for a chill new band then this is them. Check out the song " Is there A Ghost" and go pick up the ablum.
Music Review
This band is a throwback to the days of mohowaks and the ska-infused days of anarchy.
Formed in NYC Choking Victim is probably best classified as skacore but their sound could be
anything from punk to hardcore. If you were to live the anarachists hobo's life then this is the band for you.
Their lyrics contain everything from the numerous crack references to squating to just in general being a vagran hobo.
The song 500 Channels off of the album No Gods No Managers can be best summed up by the line " and when there is no hope
iI smoke some crack , shoot some dope." So check em out if you're looking for something different for your ipod. FYI anyband that splits up
and forms more succesful bands lets you know that they are producing music worth listening to
after Choking Victim broke up they went on to form leftover crack also worth a listen to.
