So there i was in search of a solution, how to land frontside smiths. I thought, the internet is a great place to find trick tips. A quick google search led me to youtube and to this kid. There are several problems with his video, but it was somewhat informative. Who in the holy hell waxes a rail and why the hell does he spend three minutes of my life tellin me shit when he could just be doin the trick. Anyways check this out if you want a glimpse at how to do a smith grind

http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=42753C6C781578ECThis isn’t going to be your average episode of music review, no fortunately for you this is a whole new animal- more like a concert review. Yes that’s right I’m gonna tell you what its like to see this band live, the ultimate test of a band’s listening potential. Modest Mouse played at Terminal 5 in manhattan on march 15th to a sellout crowd. You’re probably wondering “ well who else was playing?”, that’s not important because I didn’t make it there in time to hear anyone else but they were amazing because they bought me time. Modest Mouse is always a crowd pleaser but early in their career they were known more for their shenanigans on stage than for playing- this was not the case at terminal 5 as Modest Mouse literally had the crowd screaming for more. It’s hard to describe their sound but if I had to I would call it eclectic and definitely alternative, using everything from trumpets to banjos ( they even have two drummers) ….well enough of me check em out and props to capitalQ for posting the whole concert so you can experience a night on the sun as if you were there.Set list: 1- 3rd planet 2- Education 3- Black Cadillacs 4- Here It Comes (wow!) 5- New Song (king rat?) 6- The View 7- Doin' The Cockroach 8- Custom Concern 9- JC was an only child 10- Dance Hall 11- Baby Blue Sedan 12- Bury Me With It 13- Night On The Sun (outrageous) 14- Paper Thin Walls 15- New Song (satellite skin?) 16- Dramamine 17- Float On 18- Parting of the Sensory ENCORE: 19- Satin In A Coffin 20- Interstate 8 21- All Nite Diner

Kickflip Vs Heelflip

           SpacemanSpiff

Age old debate I guess, as to which trick is better, the kicking kickflip or the handy heelflip. I know i learned  heelflip first and then proceeded to learn kickflip, and then completely forget how to heelflip. In my humble opinion heelflip is much harder to control, flip, and keep under you but I’m somewhat partial to the kickflip- its so much simpler to just flick your foot out, then it is to slide your heel off the side. Anyways I wonder which trick people have more difficulty with? It’s ironic because I can remember exactly where I was when I landed my first flip trick and it totally changed my skating from basically riding and ollieing, to a completely different animal. Its such a fucking rush to land a new trick, its almost as if you just learned you have two arms instead of one. The beauty of learning a new trick is that it takes your skating into untold different directions; cuz ya its only one new trick-but that trick can be applied to countless spots that once were old but now that you have this new trick under yo belt, become fresh skating grounds. Keep learning new tricks and you’ll never get stale i guess. Peace.
